Dalton791000: when it came to assembly, how did you attach things to the top barrel with out being able to reach inside the barrel?
Timidater: Guy acts like hes up to something, sure smiles alot!!!!!
Green Power Farm: cool man ! I will check out your videos!!
flaimdancer: london, this is alex. McGuire Stoves. Built my first double barrel, it awesome. But the lava rocks i use them above the fire to capture the heat and start to burn the smoke. I have alot of videos that show what they can do. McGuire Stoves.
Green Power Farm: Yeah I tried that but mine just didn't heat good so I never use it....I would rather have just a plain wood stove.
Gylan Underhill: I heard the best way to make the barrels last longer is to lay fire bricks in the barrel to line it so the heat don't damage the metal of the barrel
Green Power Farm: I bet the lava rocks would work great but but hard to clean out all the ashes...needs a wood stove shelf in it.
flaimdancer: I will have to agree with you on the 2 year longevity of the the barrels. I am boing to make my version of a double barrel stove, had a customer ask me to build one. Any body ever hear of lava rocks in wood stoves? McGuire Stoves
Looks like DWK - "Done With Kit". DIY would be fabricating the doors, collar, and legs yourself.
Green Power Farm: @destro513 I had a small fisher wood stove in the shop and it was tee shirt temp...it was great....I changed it out for the double barrel...I did everything right...everybody said it was going to be awesome!... I was stoked! It didn't heat half as good as the old one and i filled it up for days on several cold days...I haven't even lit it this year!! too much work for nothing...& they burn thru in a year also. hope this helps! sorry to bum you but its the truth.
destro513: @london1817 can you elaborate on why it doesn't heat well please. Every other homework I see on these says they're are a beast and heat huge shops to tee shirt temp. I've got a buck and am about to put a double barrel stove in there and am just wondering. thanks.
Green Power Farm: @destro513 oh it doesnt matter...its an all block building and I never use it....my little woodstove I had in there heated the whole thing ...this doesn't.
destro513: Why is it touching the wall? It seems it should be not up in that corner so tight..
Green Power Farm: @envirosponsible you could set something on top....but if you opened it smoke would come out.
envirosponsible: Good work. Do you think the top barrel could be used as an oven if it had a door on it or would that affect the air flow?
Green Power Farm: @sugerbear520 Thanks!
Green Power Farm: @freedomsailer Damn! Thats great...but I am only heating a 20x30 out building ..
freedomsailer: i only heat 1116 sq. feet log cabin 3 floors tall ..
Green Power Farm: @freedomsailer How big an area do you heat with yours? mine doesn't do so good...I might set it up different or just move it farther from the door to outside.
