DolittleMccoy: Funny/Horror Story: I was really excited to make a mold like this.. So since my gf works at a local dentist office, I decided to get me some Alginate, some gauze and some of the rock mold material that they make dental casts with... The Alginate felt really cold and comfortable on my face.. THEN we dipped the gauze into the rock mold material and put that over the alginate to reinforce it.. BUT we didn't pay attention to the rock mold that had ran down onto my beard under my chin and also my hair line past the area covered in vaseline.. To make a long story short, The mold was stuck to my face and basically had to tear it loose !!!! The rock mold had got into my hairline and beard hair... It was a living hell and tore alot of hair and skin... But HEY!! It was a very nice mold once i got the d@mn thing off.. lol... So note: Use LOTS of vaseline,, ONLY Alginate,, And if you reinforce it,, Be sure not to let it go past the alginate mask...
danniekim: I feel like I would be so tempted to open my eyes if I had that stuff on my face lol
Smooth-On, Inc: No release was needed, as alginate releases from most body hair. Some customers use cholesterol on eyebrows or beards as a release when lifecasting with alginate.
Michelle Sleeper: What was used to protect the model's eyebrows, so that they didn't get stuck into the Acrobat?
Smooth-On, Inc: It can.
Bakka Karriem: Im going to invest in this product. Can this be used to do body casts as well? ;-)
Erlend Hedegart: Very helpfull thankyou :)
Smooth-On, Inc: You can cast platinum silicone (like Dragon Skin) into Alja Safe Acrobat
Nautalis: Lulz, dual matrix neo
Smooth-On, Inc: Yes, you can use Acrobat to make a full head mold. Although we don't have a video using alginate, the technique will be similar to this video, which was done with Body Double silicone: youtube.com/watch?v=lRN_lE7HvhQ
Smooth-On, Inc: @Sniped671 We have a chart at the bottom of the Technical Bulletin for Acrobat, which is available on our website.
Dwayne Reyes: Is this done with the three lb acrobat? What would be needed for one persons life cast?
Leroy Thompson: Awesome mold makeing of a face!!
Smooth-On, Inc: @nojanjoon Acrobat is a reinforced version of Alja-Safe so you can do something like a face mold without the "sag" you would normally get. You can buy online from us or else at your local distributor.
Jason Reese: Cool stuff...looks a lot easier to use than regular alginate for faces and torsos!
